Hanseatic city Rostock - to marvel at the flair...!

Since 800 years town history is written here. Nevertheless, Rostock is a young city. Once an important member of the Hanse, the city has preserved a lot from her original charm, however, it has never closed mind to new. The students always have been a reason for this: The Rostock "Alma Mater", already founded in 1419, is the oldest university in the Baltic Sea area.

Rostock owes its importance to the Baltic Sea, to the Warnow its name. "Roztoc" is Slavic and points with its translation "deliquesce" to the wide course of a river of the Warnow between city harbor and Warnemuende. Here the sailing ships have found a secure harbor close to the open sea, then and today.
